Bandar Lampung, Indonesia – International.Faktain.com – Universitas Lampung (Unila) has expressed its profound sorrow over the death of one of its students, Pratama Wijaya Kusuma, during the MAHEPEL XXVI Basic Training (Diksar) activity. This tragic incident has prompted a rigorous response from the university, which is committed to fully investigating the alleged violence.

In an official statement, Unila reiterated its commitment to protecting the rights and safety of all students, unequivocally condemning all forms of violence in student activities. Following the incident, an independent investigative team was promptly formed, mandated to operate professionally, transparently, and accountably.

The investigation team has undertaken a series of steps, including examining the incident site, collecting physical and psychological evidence, interviewing various sources, and conducting administrative verification of relevant documents and parties.

Strong Indications of Physical and Psychological Violence Found

The investigation results reveal strong indications of both physical and psychological violence experienced by the Diksar participants. Unila stated that there were perpetrators directly involved and parties who allowed the violence to occur, indicating that the activity clearly did not reflect the values of friendship, education, and student development.

Furthermore, the MAHEPEL organization demonstrated a lack of cooperation during the investigation process. They reportedly refused to provide data, avoided clarification, and blocked access to activity documents. This uncooperative stance is deemed a serious violation of internal campus regulations, including Unila Rector Regulation No. 25 of 2020, Rector Regulation No. 11 of 2023 concerning Student Organizations, and Permendikbudristek No. 55 of 2024 concerning the Prevention of Violence in Higher Education.

Severe Sanctions and Reforms for Student Organizations

Based on these findings, Unila will take decisive action:

  • Individuals proven to have committed violations will face ethical sanctions, academic sanctions, and will be reported legally if criminal elements are present.
  • The MAHEPEL organization has been placed under a moratorium on activities, a freeze on its structure, and will undergo direct supervision by the independent team.

Moving forward, Universitas Lampung also plans to establish a stricter system for fostering student organizations, involve police and community elements in oversight, and promote a fair and transparent legal process. The university also guarantees the recovery of victims and the institution.

Unila urges all academic community members and the public to use this event as a shared reflection, aiming to strengthen the values of humanity, ethics, and integrity within campus life.
